Course Description

Standard Chinese 1A (for zero beginners)

This is a one-quarter course for zero beginners who want to learn standard Chinese. Students begin with essential survival Chinese, immediately applicable to daily life. By the end of the course, students will acquire a vocabulary of approximately 80-100 words, and will be able to put together basic sentences on topics such as weather, food, transportation and shopping.

Standard Chinese 1B (for beginners)

This is a four-quarter course for beginners who want to learn standard Chinese. It is designed to help students develop basic skills in Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing. By the end of the course, students will acquire a vocabulary of approximately 300 words. Students completing this course will be able to pass HSK 2, and can advance to Standard Chinese 2 (for lower intermediate learners).
