MC006 - Appreciation of Traditional Chinese Music

Course Description

This course is designed for students who are interested in traditional Chinese music. It focuses on the appreciation of folk songs, folk singing/dancing music and narrative singing. It introduces the students to the major artistic achievements and cultural backgrounds of traditional Chinese music in various historical periods and stages, and to important musical figures and representative musical works in its history. In so doing, students will develop a better understanding of the aesthetics and characteristics of traditional Chinese music. By the end of the course, students will be able to improve their musical perception and aesthetic ability, and understand and embrace the diversity of Chinese music culture.
