Course Description

Rethinking Student Success: How Inquiry Can Help Define the Finish Line That Best Serves Students

University of Oregon

ERB Memorial Union

September 12, 2017

8:00 - 4:30 pm

How do we define student success? Is it through retention, graduation, and GPA? Or is it something more – such as the meaning a student makes throughout their higher education experience? This conference will consider how inquiry (assessment, evaluation and research) in student affairs can help us to define student success in concert with those for whom the success is most important. We will consider how the college experience can help us understand student success in ways that are more holistic and consider both global and individual metrics. What does the field of student affairs, inspired by how we add to a student’s success, have to say about how we consider a student-centered definition of student success?
